Critical Care
This taster class shares insight into emergency, anaesthetics and intensive care . Hear from our academic experts as they deliver key aspects from the University of Sydney Critical Care program, providing the skills needed to become a well-rounded, informed and analytical clinician. This taster class is drawn from the following units of study:

CRIT5017 Introduction to Clinical Toxicology -Understand the framework for the initial resuscitation and risk assessment of the affected patient.

CRIT5016 Major Trauma Management -An overview of how to treat the sick trauma patient holistically.

CRIT5020 - Resus -Focusing on cardiovascular resuscitation, addressing the advanced life support algorithm

CRIT5010 Point of Care Ultrasound -An introduction to use of ultrasound physics in the assessment and management of critically ill patients. The unit that this class is drawn from satisfies the requirements of the Australasian Society for Ultrasound Medicine (ASUM) for the Certificate of Clinician Performed Ultrasound (CCPU).

From 2022 the Master of Science in Medicine (Critical Care Medicine) will be open to applicants from a range of health backgrounds. The Master of Medcine (Critical Care Medicine) will continue to be available for applicants with a medical qualification.
