Masterclass for the Master of Medical Physics
Presented by Professor Annette Haworth, Postgraduate Coordinator for M Medical Physics

Join Annette, and a past and present student, online to experience part of one of the classes that may form your future course. Masterclasses are your opportunity to join a class from the actual course curriculum, delivered by a leading academic from the program.

Class topic: Radiation Therapy: treating cancer patients with radiation
In this lecture we will look at the physics behind producing high energy x-rays that are used for treating cancers. We will also look at the work medical physicists do in hospitals that ensure our patients receive high accuracy treatment delivered with pinpoint precision. The lecture will also cover the physicist role in radiation therapy treatments with radionuclides and a peek into the future where x-rays are replaced with protons and heavy ions. This masterclass is delivered as part of PHYS5005 – a unit of study offered through the Master of Medical Physics.
