Mindfulness for Focus and Stress Release
Would you like to take a moment to step away from your books and learn some ways to connect with your body and breath and calm your mind?

Join us for twice-weekly drop-in mindfulness and meditation sessions, where you'll have the opportunity to learn and practice some techniques together with a facilitator and other like-minded students. Develop your skills in mindfulness, and make the practice a regular part of your study schedule. Weekly on Mondays and Thursdays from 8 March - 10 June (except for Monday 5 and Thursday 8 April).

Mindfulness is the process of non-judgementally observing your thoughts, emotions and sensations as they come and go, with an attitude of curiosity and acceptance. Mindfulness can help us develop our ability to deal with difficult emotions. Practicing before you study can improve your reading comprehension, memory, concentration, stress and anxiety. Post-meditation, your mind is less likely to wander and you’re more likely to stay focused for longer periods of time.

The sessions are open to current University of Sydney students only. Please note, you only need to register once and you can join the sessions at any point during semester. Please ensure that you are logged into Zoom using your student credentials. More information can be found here:

Brought to you by the Student Transition and Retention (STAR) and Student Life Teams, and proudly sponsored by Allianz Care (OHSC).

Please note: these mindfulness sessions were not designed to treat clinically significant distress, such as anxiety or depressive disorders. The sessions were designed to help students reduce stress in everyday life. If you are experiencing significant emotional distress, we encourage you to seek professional support.
