OTAC: Case Based Webinars: Sedating Substances & OAT

Welcome to the OTAC Clinical Case Webinars. To register for the upcoming session, complete the registration form below.

In this session, we will overview cases relating to sedating substances and how they can interact with OAT. When can sedating substances be safely prescribed to patients on OAT? How can we best manage risks of over-sedation, overdose, and patient symptoms? How to manage patients with poly-substance use? We will also briefly discuss the role of SafeScript in managing concomitant medications.

Presenters: Dr Rowena Penafiel, Advanced Trainee in Clinical Pharmacology, Toxicology and Addiction Medicine at Drug Health Services, Sydney Local Health District alongside Dr Sharon Reid Medical Officer & OTAC Clinical Academic Advisor, University of Sydney Specialty of Addiction Medicine & Drug Health Services, Sydney Local Health District.

The webinars will be recorded and be made available on the OTAC website (www.otac.org.au/webinars) alongside relevant resources related to the topic. Whilst primarily aimed towards prescribers of OAT, we welcome other health professionals, including those in nursing and pharmacy, to join us in the conversation.
